Fruit Buying Guide – August 2009
The August Fruit Buying Guide begins with a plea to visit your local farm market and see the fresh and delicious offerings. Summer goes quickly and NOW is the time to enjoy fruit at it’s freshest! Also recommended are Dapple Dandy Pluots, this is the pluot that sparked a revolution and these babies are BEST NOW! Perhaps you like the sugary sweetness of a perfect white fleshed peach? Well now is the time as California’s are running awesome now! In the Fruit’s to Try section Tommy K suggests you seek out the sweet and delicate Champagne grape just before going out to slay the Dragon Fruit!
Fruit Buying Guide – May 2009
The May Fruit Buying Guide highlights some real values on great, fresh fruit. Consider this the fruit edition the “Shop Smart and Save Big” issue that Consumer Reports has out this month. Delicious deals are out there on many varieties of apples, melons, kiwi, strawberries and grapefruit! For those willing to splurge a bit, May offers the Apache apricot and Tasty Rich aprium. These are both fantastic, a shocker to start the summer fruit season with fruit sooo good. Watch Best Fruit Now’s Chef Melissa prepare a Tropical Salsa … perfect for dipping or serving as a fish or chicken topping. Speaking of Tropical, check out the Maradol Papaya, a true “Super Fruit” and also consider trying, one of my personal favorites, the Florida Lychee!
